The Riviera Elite Standard

Grasse, on the hills of perfume

Clinging to the hills above Cannes, Grasse has lived by perfume since the seventeenth century: its houses open their workshops to visitors, rose and jasmine are still grown here, and the old town winds its way up to the cathedral. About 50 minutes of road separate Nice’s runways from the perfumers; your private driver, a local, knows when the highway clogs.

  1. From the plane to Grasse

Whether an airliner lands you in Nice or a business jet sets down at Cannes-Mandelieu, the real landing time fixes our meeting time; from Nice, the highway runs toward Cannes, then a last road climbs up to Grasse.

  2. The perfume houses

Galimard since 1747, Molinard since 1849, Fragonard in Grasse since 1926: all three perfumeries welcome visitors, and you can even blend a fragrance of your own.

  3. Recognized by UNESCO

Growing perfume plants, processing the raw materials, composing a fragrance: since 2018, this know-how of the Pays de Grasse has been on UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage.

  4. Fragonard’s house

Born in Grasse in 1732, the painter Jean-Honoré Fragonard came back in 1790 to stay with a cousin; that bastide is now the Villa-Musée Jean-Honoré Fragonard.

NICE AIRPORT TO GRASSE TRANSFER

From the perfumers to the bastides

Transfers to and from the airport each keep their firm fare; for everything else, an hourly chauffeur takes you from a perfumery to a dinner table, from a hilltop village to the Croisette.

  1. The Fragonard factory and the bell tower of Grasse Cathedral Book by the hour

    A day steeped in perfume

A factory tour in the morning, a fragrance blended to your taste after lunch, then Cannes for dinner: one chauffeur, all day long.

  2. A terrace in Grasse facing the hills Plan your wedding

    A wedding in the hills

Vows at the town hall, in the bishops’ former chapel, then the party at a bastide in the hills: our chauffeurs link town and countryside for the newlyweds and their families, and the rides home are staggered to suit each guest.

  3. A chauffeur in a suit takes the luggage of a couple arriving by private jet and leads them across the airport apron to a black Mercedes-Benz S-Class Plan your journey

    A summer at a bastide

A bastide taken for the summer, friends landing at Cannes-Mandelieu, evenings on the coast: Valentin handles every ride, from the first days of July to the last days of August.

  4. Glass terminal building of Nice Côte d’Azur Airport, framed by palm trees Book your transfer

    Your transfer to Grasse

Enter your address in Grasse or the hills around it: your private car’s fare shows up instantly and won’t change before departure.

OUR MERCEDES-BENZ FLEET

Up to Grasse in a V-Class van

Trunks, cases of perfume bottles, golf bags: seven people travel in the V-Class without leaving anything behind. For dinner in Cannes, the S-Class is often preferred; a meeting at a perfume house calls for the E-Class instead. If more guests join, we can arrange additional vehicles.

THE YEAR IN GRASSE

From May roses to August jasmine

Two flower harvests, a museum devoted to perfume, a cathedral with three Rubens paintings: the Grasse calendar is fragrant all year.

  1. May

    Expo Rose

Every May, Expo Rose celebrates the centifolia rose, known as the May rose, grown here for perfumery and harvested only once a year.

  2. Early August

    The Jasmine Festival

Since 1946, Grasse has celebrated jasmine in early August, just as it is harvested: the flower is picked right before dawn, when its scent is strongest.

  3. One morning

    The perfume museum

Opened in 1989 in the Hôtel de Pontevès and enlarged in 2008, the International Perfume Museum traces the history of fragrance; we drop you right by the entrance.

  4. Since the 13th century

    Grasse Cathedral

Built in the thirteenth century, Notre-Dame-du-Puy has displayed three paintings by Rubens since 1972, along with a Washing of the Feet commissioned from the young Fragonard in 1754.

AROUND GRASSE

Between the hills and the sea

To the south, Mouans-Sartoux and Mougins slope down toward Cannes; to the east, Valbonne, Sophia Antipolis and Saint-Paul-de-Vence; to the north, the Route Napoléon climbs into the Préalpes.

GOOD TO KNOW

A question about Grasse?

Is the drive up from the airport a long one?

Allow about fifty minutes: the highway to Cannes, then the climb to Grasse; late in the evening, the trip is often shorter.

Can your chauffeur wait while we tour a perfumery?

Yes: booked for a few hours, your chauffeur waits nearby during the tour or the workshop, and the day continues wherever you choose.

Our jet lands at Cannes-Mandelieu: can someone greet us there?

Of course: at the airfield, a chauffeur is waiting right off the plane, then drives you up to Grasse.

Taxi versus private chauffeur: which suits a trip to Grasse?

In arrivals, the taxi line grows long on busy days; with us, someone is watching for your name at the exit. A brand-new, latest-generation Mercedes-Benz has been brought around, and a chauffeur neatly attired in a suit and tie stows your luggage for the drive up into the old town.

PERSONAL ASSISTANCE

Your stay in Grasse, with Valentin

Valentin Sassi founded Riviera Elite Driver in 2016, after a career in tourism and luxury hospitality on the French Riviera. In the five-star hotels and Palaces of Cannes, he learned what great hospitality demands: attention to detail, discretion and the art of anticipation. These qualities have become his signature.

At first the only one behind the wheel, he earned the trust of hotels, partners and loyal clients, then brought together a team of professional chauffeurs who share his vision of the craft.

Since 2023, he has devoted himself entirely to his clients: he personally organizes every journey and coordinates your chauffeurs.

Day and night, seven days a week, the whole team is just a call away. The perfumeries, the old town, the bastides scattered over the hills, the road that winds down to Cannes: Valentin knows Grasse and its surroundings well.

The vehicle matters. The people who look after you matter more.
