The Riviera Elite Standard

From the French Riviera to Megève and Chamonix

Megève has the polish of a chalet village; Chamonix lives in the shadow of Mont Blanc, at 1,035 meters (about 3,400 feet). Leaving Monaco, Nice or Cannes, you reach either resort in roughly six and a half hours of winter driving: you enjoy the comfort of the back seat, and your private driver handles the mountain bends.

Downtown Chamonix, its hotels and square, below the snowy needles of the Mont Blanc massif
Chamonix45°55′ N · 6°52′ E
  1. Leaving from your address

A hotel in Cannes, a villa on Cap Ferrat, an apartment in Monaco: your luggage and ski gear go into the trunk at the time of your choosing, and you carry nothing.

  2. Through Italy or up the Rhône valley

For Chamonix, the shortest route crosses into Italy and goes through the Mont Blanc Tunnel. When the tunnel is closed for repairs, we head up the Rhône valley instead. The route is decided as you set off, based on traffic.

  3. The Route Blanche to Mont Blanc

After Sallanches, the climb to Megève covers the last 13 kilometers (about 8 miles); toward Chamonix, the Route Blanche follows the Arve valley upstream. Your vehicle is fitted for winter, and we watch the snow forecast right up to departure.

  4. From Mont d’Arbois to Argentière

Megève, Mont d’Arbois, Combloux, Chamonix, Les Houches or Argentière: your ride ends at the entrance of your residence, with your bags already unloaded.

BENEATH MONT BLANC

Megève and Chamonix through the seasons

A vast ski area, an aerial tramway climbing to nearly 3,800 meters (about 12,470 feet) and two very different stories: a little background for your stay.

  1. Winter

    Évasion Mont-Blanc, around Megève

Megève shares the Évasion Mont-Blanc ski area with Saint-Gervais, Combloux, Saint-Nicolas-de-Véroce, Cordon and La Giettaz: more than 450 kilometers (about 280 miles) of runs, facing the Mont Blanc massif.

  2. On a clear day

    The Aiguille du Midi

Opened in 1955, the Aiguille du Midi aerial tramway rises from Chamonix to 3,777 meters (about 12,390 feet). Up there, Mont Blanc, all 4,806 meters (about 15,770 feet) of it, seems close enough to touch, and the Vallée Blanche opens out below.

  3. Since 1924

    Chamonix, an Olympic town

In 1924, Chamonix hosted the first Winter Olympics. It is also known as the world capital of mountaineering: as early as 1786, two Chamonix natives, Jacques Balmat and Dr. Michel Paccard, reached the summit of Mont Blanc.

  4. Since 1921

    Megève, a Rothschild idea

Between the two world wars, a branch of the Rothschild family set out to make Megève a French rival to St. Moritz. The Palace des Neiges rose on Mont d’Arbois from 1921, and the village still has its horse-drawn carriages and its church square.

GOOD TO KNOW

Any questions about your stay in Megève or Chamonix?

How many hours is the drive to Megève and Chamonix?

In winter, the drive from the Riviera takes around six and a half hours. The two resorts are close neighbors, so the drive time is nearly the same for both.

Do you also serve Saint-Gervais, Combloux or Les Houches?

Yes. Saint-Gervais-les-Bains, Combloux, Cordon and Saint-Nicolas-de-Véroce around Megève, as well as Les Houches and Argentière in the Chamonix valley: just send us the address where you are staying.

Do you drive up in summer too?

Yes. In summer, Chamonix runs on hiking and mountaineering, and in late August the UTMB brings trail runners from around the globe.

Is a taxi a good idea for the trip up to Chamonix?

On a drive this long, a private chauffeur wins out. At Nice Airport, a taxi first means waiting at the stand, while your chauffeur is already watching for you at arrivals, holding a tablet with your name. Your chauffeur, in a suit and tie, then takes the wheel of a brand-new, latest-generation Mercedes-Benz, built for the mountains.

PERSONAL ASSISTANCE

To Megève and Chamonix, Valentin takes care of everything

Valentin Sassi founded Riviera Elite Driver in 2016, after a career in tourism and luxury hospitality on the French Riviera. In the five-star hotels and Palaces of Cannes, he learned what great hospitality demands: attention to detail, discretion and the art of anticipation. These qualities have become his signature.

At first the only one behind the wheel, he earned the trust of hotels, partners and loyal clients, then brought together a team of professional chauffeurs who share his vision of the craft.

Since 2023, he has devoted himself entirely to his clients: he personally organizes every journey and coordinates your chauffeurs.

Day and night, seven days a week, the whole team is just a call away. Before every departure, he checks whether the Mont Blanc Tunnel is open and how the roads look, then suggests the safest route and departure time.

The vehicle matters. The people who look after you matter more.
